The creator of Seashine Labs Organic Skincare, Dawn Marie Lake, discovered her passion for holistic wellness at an early age. She began stocking her grandmother’s Dallas health food store at age 5 and eventually went on to own her own natural products shop in Texas for over 12 years. With deep expertise in natural remedies and a certification in French Medical Aromatherapy, she embraced the philosophy that what we put on our skin matters just as much as what we ingest. This belief led her to begin creating her own organic, oil-based skincare formulas using clean, certified ingredients. Thus, Seashine Labs was born from a desire to provide radically clean skincare that supports skin health and overall well-being.
In 2017, Dawn Marie and her husband Colin embarked on a transformative two-year sailing journey abroad their boat Wavelength, traversing the Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico, Belize, and the western Caribbean. During stops, she formulated what would become the brand’s initial products, blending her aromatherapy knowledge with the natural botanicals she’d gathered. In 2019, they landed in Roatán, launching Seashine with a makeshift pop-up lab and later establishing a small-batch production hub near Antigua, Guatemala.
Seashine Labs takes a socially impactful approach in Guatemala by grounding its operations in underrepresented communities and fostering sustainable livelihoods. Since launching its production hub, the company has prioritized empowering young Guatemalan women through meaningful employment and mentorship, offering them opportunities to learn artisanal skincare production and build stable lives for themselves and their families.
